Cogeneration Association of India (Cogen India), a ‘Single-Platform’ for promotion of cogeneration in India, is serving as a One-Stop Destination to all Sugar Cogeneration Power Plants representing tariff issues, SEDCL dues/bills, capital subsidy, transformer & system losses, petitions with Electricity Regulatory Commissions, Submission of Comments / Suggestions to Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), State ERC’s, Ministry of Power, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), State Governments, Energy Development Agencies, other Govt. Bodies etc.

Cogen India brings together all concerned, including cogenerators, power utilities, users of electricity, State / Central Government Ministries, departments and other bodies, suppliers of equipment and services, academic and research Institutions and also provides a link with international and national organizations, promoting cogeneration and relevant technologies.

The Association has published ‘Sugar Cogen Handbook the first of its kind literature predominantly covering all aspects of Cogeneration using Green Renewable Energy as Fuel with information on Ethanol and Bio Energy. It is a compendium of articles on various issues of Renewable Energy. The articles have been contributed by experts in Technology, Finance, Policy framework etc and shall serve a useful purpose to different stakeholders in the sector. The ‘National Cogeneration Awards’ were launched by Cogeneration Association of India for recognizing the excellence and innovations in the Sugar Cogeneration Industry during 2022 mainly with a view to create a platform for bringing various stakeholders together and create an enthusiastic environment for individuals and institutions to aspire for greater achievements in the Co-operative and Private Sector Sugar Mills having Cogeneration Power Plants.

This Award Ceremony was held in the August presence of Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon. Minister (Road Transport & Highways), Govt. of India as ‘Chief Guest’. Shri Sharadchandra Pawar, Hon. M.P. (Rajya Sabha) and President, Cogen India presided over the function in the presence of Shri Jaiprakash Dandegaonkar, Vice President, Cogen India. Noted luminaries from the Sugar Sector and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, particularly Shri Dinesh D. Jagdale, Jt. Secretary (Biomass), New Delhi were present at the event.  On similar lines, the “National Cogeneration Awards 2023” was successfully organized during September 2023 at Pune and has received an overwhelming response with the increase in nominations by 56% over the last edition(2022).
